OPPORTUNITIES

Below are some opportunities for you to earn torch awards activities during the Regional Conference. These aren't "hosted" by anybody--they are just ideas for you to take advantage of.  Most opportunities will take place in the SUB.  You will need to find people to present to in some cases--sometimes from another school.

LEADERSHIP:​

​

  • Leadership (Code 115) Submit a feasible, detailed, and written plan to the regional vice president for a new regional project and provide your email address. (5 points)

​​

SERVICE:

​

  • Service (Code 212) Write an article on safety (including drug awareness) for publication in a Business Professionals America newsletter, community paper, etc.: it must be published. You can write this article using the computers while on campus. (10 points)

​​

  • Service (Code 215) Participate in an activity that promotes the concept of "going green" while on campus; example: anyone you see drinking from a can or a plastic bottle, make them promise to recycle it, and record how many people you encourages within the given time-frame. (10 points)

​​

COOPERATION:

 

  • Cooperation (Code 305) Participate in a regionally-sponsored project such as community service. Bring your extra motel soaps and shampoos to donate to local women's center. Drop box will locate in the SUB-Lake CDA                                                Room. (10 points)

 

  • Cooperation (Code 325) Click the "Follow" button on BPA's official Instagram page: @national_bpa. (5 points)

 

  • Cooperation (Code 326) Participate in a BPA Tweet-A-Thon hosted by @National_BPA and use "#BPAAllDay" (5 points)

 

  • Cooperation (Code 327) Click the "Connect" button on BPA's official LinkedIn page. (5 points)

 

  • Cooperation (Code 328) Add BPA's official snapchat account: @national_bpa (5 points)

 

  • Cooperation (Code 335) Click "Like" on BPA's official Facebook page.(5 points)

 

  • Cooperation (Code 336) Click the "Follow" button on BPA's official Twitter page @national_bpa (5 points)

 

  • Cooperation (Code 339) Communicate with a national officer on a Business Professionals of America related topic.     Email them while at the conference. Contact info can be found on bpa.org   (10 points)

KNOWLEDGE:

 

  • Knowledge (Code 402) Recite the Business Professionals of America pledge by memory on a one-to-one basis. Do this with  your adviser during the conference. (10 points)

 

  • Knowledge (Code 408) Participate in a Business Professionals of America nationally-approved competitive event, individual or team, at a regional level. (5 points)

 

  • Knowledge (Code 409) Place in a Business Professionals of America nationally-approved competitive event, individual or team, at the regional level.  (5 points)

 

  • Knowledge (Code 416) Read the Business Professionals of America local, state and national constitutions. Identify the sources.  (You will get the local one from your adviser.)  Here are the state and national links. (10 points)  

 

  • Knowledge (Code 421) Conduct a job search using the internet. Identify two companies about which you received information. (5 points)

 

  • Knowledge (Code 440) Create a portfolio that presents some of the work and/or projects you completed as a member of BPA (identify the work/projects covered in the portfolio). (10 Points)

FRIENDSHIP:

​

  • Friendship (Code 504) Attend a Business Professionals of America leadership conference. Identify the region and the conference. (5 points)

 

  • Friendship (Code 515) Submit a story and photo to the BPA official Facebook and Twitter page promoting BPA.  (10 points)

 

PATRIOTISM:

​

  • Patriotism (Code 721) Tour a historical building. Ft. Sherman Headquarters is located right on campus.  Ft. Sherman Headquarters is #10 on this NIC map.  (10 points)  

 

  • Patriotism (Code 710) Contact a state or national elected official on a current legislative issue (identify the method of contact, individual, and the topic) (10 points each---can do twice) Here is how to contact Idaho Legislators.  You can email them!

 

  • Patriotism (Code 720) Take a virtual tour of a historical building or area (identify the building or area and what was observed) (5 pts each—can do twice!)  Here are two virtual tours: US Dept of Treasury and US Capitol Complex.
